On this World Water Day, millions across the globe reflect on efforts to end the global water crisis, a problem leaving more than 844 million without access to clean water, according to UNICEF.

Among the number of companies and nonprofits working to do their part, a new subscription box brings together five social enterprises offering products that fund clean water initiatives, known simply as ‘The Water Box.’

A Partnership That Gives Back

The effort is led by Greg Pittman, a former nonprofit founder and now self-proclaimed social capitalist and CEO of Cause Roast, a specialty coffee roaster that gives back to clean water initiatives with every purchase.

The companies behind the initiative include Sevenly, Cause Roast, The Created Co., Numi Tea, and Generosity Water -- all social enterprises themselves. Their goal for the collaboration? To make the reality of ending the water crisis both fun and meaningful, in a way that inspires and engages consumers in the process.

“It’s not always possible for people to grasp the water crisis when we have water so easily accessible to us,” Pittman says. “It’s easy to take that for granted, so we wanted The Water Box to give people products they could use in their daily lives while inspiring them to act differently.”
